The AAVSO issues a special notice (# 156) on May 9, 2009. Pointing: Possible Nova LMC 2009 # 2 announced police action in the news AAVSO Special # 154 has been detected police action by several observers. It was also announced on IAUC 9042 (DWE Green, editor). LAG Monard (Pretoria, South Africa) has made the source astrometry, and has the following coordinates: RA: May 31 26.42, Dec: -67 05 39.4 Monard reported that the star had an unfiltered magnitude 12.5 on 2009 May 07 716 (JD 2454959.216). Terry Bohlsen (Armidale, NSW, Australia) confirmed astrometry, with the coordinates for by Monard within 0.5 arcsec. We note that this object spectroscopy has not been obtained and therefore can not be confirmed as Nova. It could be a cataclysmic variable to "pop" and not a Nova. Spectroscopy is urgently requested to confirm their nature. The Photometry of this object to the AAVSO will be using the identifier "VSX J053126.4-670539" or AUID "BJP-000-186". other-news alert will be sent when the object is determined to be Nova. held in AAVSO M.
