A collection of music links, images and videos that relate art and science. Today: Images of Mars in 3D, The Pelican in the Swan, a supernova in NGC 5806, NGC 1333 in the dust, and a bright superbubble, NGC 1929. Sound: Rhayader goes to town: The Sower of Stars. Video: Trailer of the machine that makes stars.
This incredible stereoscopic view belongs to the region known as Terra Meridiani, Mars. The region is near the intersection with the Martian prime meridian kelowna auto auction Ecuador: Lat. 1.4714 Length: 0.5322. In this area the rocks Phobos kelowna auto auction 2 spacecraft performed a thermal image in 1989 showing that these materials were too cold during the day. The Mars Global Surveyor later showed that these rocks formed cliffs, hills and plateaus, somehow reminiscent of northern Arizona and southern Utah in the United States kelowna auto auction so that this region is also known by the name Valle Monument (Monument Valley) refers to as the Great Depression in Utah. The imaged area is about 3 miles. For terrestrial climbers place would be a delight, considering the seriousness of the red planet would weigh a third party. The image you see here (and you can complete in descargse site MSSS) is achieved with shots of 2000 and 2001 composition. But it was chosen as the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) on 28 August 2002. In Spanish Observatorio. Another picture of the place by Themis met in June 2002. Remember that you can see Mars in Google. Credit: Malin Space Science Systems, MGS, JPL, NASA Pelican in the Swan
The Pelican Nebula, also known as IC 5070, lies 2,000 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. This image shows a portion of the nebula is about 30 light years across. Pelican is close to the North America Nebula (NGC 7000). The two nebulae appear kelowna auto auction separated from our point of view, a large dark cloud that crosses the image to the upper left in this image. The wonderful picture features Robert Gendler site in which we can find a more comprehensive picture of the area to find more easily the two nebulae. It was the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) kelowna auto auction on 29 August 2002. And in Observatory.
With Hubble astronomers captured this image of spiral galaxy NGC 5806 in Virgo *. It lies about 80 million kelowna auto auction light years away from Earth. Exposures were combined to form the image were made in 2005 to help determine the location of the supernova SN 2004dg kelowna auto auction that exploded in 2004. The glare caused by the explosion of a giant star at the end of its stellar life, can be seen as a faint yellow glow near the bottom of the galaxy (** read below). NGC 5806 was chosen as part of a study of supernovae because the file of images taken with the Space Telescope photographs contained above the explosion. In CBAT, IAUC 8375, the discovery of the supernova is reported by D. De Pasquale, F. Guerri, G. Guerri, M. Cristofanelli, S. Romanelli and A. Vagnozzi the July 19, 2004, at magnitude 17.1. The center kelowna auto auction of the galaxy is an active nucleus, where a supermassive black hole resides. * Somewhere kelowna auto auction indicates that the supernova therefore the galaxy lies in Serpens Caput (the Serpent's Head). It is, however, within kelowna auto auction the limits of Virgo, near the "border" with that other constellation. Galaxy ** In the same year reported another possible supernova, PSN 2012p, also Italian. Photo on Flickr. Both supernovae can be displayed in Simplay CDS to facilitate the location relative to the image above. Credits: ESA / NASA & Andre van der Hoeven. It was the Picture of the Week Space Telescope. NGC 1333 in the dust
This reflection nebula in Perseus lies 1000 light years away. The image was then accomplished in 33h, 20m of exposure (about a day and a half) with Skywatcher Black Diamond ED120 APO NEQ6 Pro SynScan mounted camera and Moravian G2 8300. Registration kelowna auto auction was accomplished by Dieter kelowna auto auction Beer & Patrick Hochleitner from Bruck an der Glocknerstrasse, Austria. This star-forming region was recorded, incredibly, by Spitzer. The photograph was selected as the Amateur Astronomy Picture of the Day (AAPOD) of August 27, 2012. A bright superbubble
The star cluster NGC 1929 contains massive stars that produce radiation, expel matter at high speeds and evolve rapidly to explode as supernovas. The winds and shock waves excarban dust forming "pockets" in the surrounding gas. In this false-color composite kelowna auto auction of Chandra (blue) X-rays reveal regions created by these winds, while data from Spitzer (red) define regions where the dust and gas is colder.
