Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley MP Scott Armstrong said Access Labels is a success story in challenging times for the Amherst-area economy — primarily as a result of Nova Scotia’s 15 per cent sales tax and the proximity of the New Brunswick border.
“In a border community like Amherst, where people can drive to New Brunswick to save two per cent on taxes, it can be difficult for business any business to make a go of it,” Armstrong said in an interview.
The loan, through the Business Development Program of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, will be used to obtain a sophisticated printer to expand the product line and to install an an in-house water treatment plant.
